(KDVR) — The mother of Gannon Stauch, the 11-year-old boy killed by his own stepmother in Colorado Springs, sat down with FOX31 for her first one-on-one interview hours after the verdict Monday.“1,195 days we’ve waited. DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver City Council passed a bill Monday that updates parking rules in the city.The updates were aimed to help "regulate and respond to evolving parking patterns and behaviors," among other things, according to a bill description.What changes for street parking rules in Denver?Not all vehicles will be impacted by these changes in the same way. The majority of the updates are for large vehicles, trailers, vehicles with attached "recreational vehicles," as well as so-called "junker" vehicles.Large vehicles are now not allowed to park in an area for more than 2 hours in any 7-day period unless they are "actively engaged in services in the immediate area."These large vehicles now have to move 700 feet away, up from the previous rule of 100 feet, from where they used to be parked to avoid violating the law and potentially being towed. A project is building community in more ways than one. Residents, businesses and local leaders are all taking part. Buckets were full of paint for Habitat for Humanity volunteers as they got to work. Takira Lundy, a soon-to-be homeowner, picked gray paint for her home. She is one of 76 homeowners who will be moving into the Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. “A part of the program is that you have to do at least 74 hours one your home,” Lundy said. “I came out here, did baseboards, helping with any little thing they need, whether it is picking up trash or whether it is inside painting, whatever they need to help my home come along.”Lundy is a mail carrier and is a first-time homeowner with two kids.
