SFPD officers make discovery of backpack left unattended in SoMa

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Officers discovered an unattended backpack in the SoMa neighborhood Thursday, the San Francisco Police Department said on Twitter. The bag police discovered on 7th Street and Mission Street was full of narcotics. Police seized 254.3 grams of heroin, 287.2 grams of methamphetamine and 603.4 grams of fentnayl. A photo of the backpack and the contents inside it can be seen below.(San Francisco Police Department)The amount of fentanyl (~600,000 milligrams) seized could potentially kill approximately 300,000 people. According to the DEA, two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal. The discovery was made on the same day Mayor London Breed said the majority of people arrested for drugs are not from the city. DENVER (KDVR) -- Aurora police arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another man to death Thursday night.Nurendy Ropon, 22, is facing charges of second-degree murder and felony menacing with a deadly weapon. Officers responded to the stabbing at 9:23 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Alton Street. Police said Ropon stabbed a 34-year-old man in the neck after the two got into an argument in front of the apartment complex. 1 dead in Commerce City shooting The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. Ropon was found with the knife a short distance from the crime scene, police said. A young reptile was released in the Florida Keys, ready to part in the 16th Annual Tour de Turtles.A sea turtle named Marcia was fitted with a satellite-tracking transmitter and released from a beach in Marathon, Friday.Back in March, she was found floating off Vaca Key and suffered from a condition that left her unable to dive for food. Boston police have released a suspect image of the person they say stole a pickup truck in Dorchester on Friday afternoon with a baby still inside and then abandoned the child in a car seat on the side of the road.Officers responding to a reported kidnapping at the intersection of Geneva Avenue and Leroy Street around 3 p.m. learned that a heavy-set, light-skinned Hispanic male with long hair and a beard who was last seen wearing gray shirt with gray pants had just fled in a truck with a infant child inside, according to Boston police.Shocking surveillance video obtained by 7NEWS shows the person return to the area shortly after and leave the infant, who was still in the car seat, on the sidewalk.
