Pedestrian Versus Car Collision at Princess Anne Drive Left One DeadSAN JOSE, CA (September 26, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in a mobility scooter accident on Fruitdale Avenue in San Jose on Friday morning.The fatal collision happened around 10:31 a.m. at 2000 Fruidale Avenue at Princess Anne Drive.According to the SJPD, a 2017 Nissan sedan collided with a man on a mobility scooter crossing Fruidale Avenue. Investigators claimed that the man was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.Unfortunately, medical personnel declared the pedestrian deceased upon arriving at the hospital. OAKLAND — Authorities have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed earlier this month by the city’s waterfront.Milton Sosa-Valencia, 33, was fatally shot at 5 a.m. Sept. 7 outside of a parked stolen car on the 100 block of Embarcadero West, near Jack London Square, authorities said. Police have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests.Sosa-Valencia was killed by at least one shooter after he and a 27-year-old woman fell asleep inside the stolen vehicle, then woke up and realized the car battery was dead. The killer drove up and shot Sosa-Valencia while he was attempting to fix the car, authorities said. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco is poised to begin requiring mandatory drug testing and treatment programs for some residents who receive cash assistance from the county.Mayor London Breed and the San Francisco Human Services Agency announced the newly proposed legislation on Tuesday. The legislation would require "individuals with substance use disorder who want to access county-funded cash assistance to be enrolled in treatment and services," the mayor's office wrote.San Franciscans who apply for, or receive, benefits from the County Adult Assistance Programs (CAAP) would have to undergo screening and participate in a substance abuse treatment program when the screening reveals that they may be addicted to drugs.
