Police: Santa Rosa student, 14, arrested for bringing imitation firearm to school

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A Montgomery High School student in Santa Rosa was arrested Tuesday for bringing an imitation firearm to school, police said. The student is 14 years old.School officials called the Santa Rosa Police Department at 9:55 a.m. reporting that a firearm may be on campus. "A student posted a video on social media showing what appeared to be a firearm inside of an open backpack belonging to another student. Staff was able to quickly identify the student who posted the video, and the student who was the subject of the recording," SRPD wrote.Both students were immediately removed from their classes.SRPD officers discovered that one of the students brought an imitation firearm to school and hid it in his locker. (AP) — Buddy Teevens, the innovative Ivy League football coach who brought robotic tackling dummies to Dartmouth practices, died Tuesday of injuries he sustained from a bicycle accident in March. He was 66. School president Sian Leah Beilock and athletic director Mike Harrity announced Teevens’ death in a letter to the Dartmouth community.“Our family is heartbroken to inform you that our beloved ‘coach’ has peacefully passed away surrounded by family. The death of a whitewater kayaker on the Potomac River on Sunday has drawn attention to the risks that river users face when water levels are low.Ella Mills, a third-year exchange student from Dublin and a member of Columbia University’s whitewater kayaking club, died after being pinned under a rock in a hydraulic vacuum at Little Falls on a weekend trip for students from the New York City university.The Potomac River’s water level measured 2.7 feet at the Army Corps of Engineers’ downstream gauge on Sunday when the accident occurred. DENVER (KDVR) — A Frontier Airlines flight had to return to Denver on Tuesday night because of an issue on the plane.The flight was to Raleigh, North Carolina, according to a Denver International Airport spokesperson. The spokesperson first told FOX31 it was a medical situation. They later said it was a mechanical situation. Witness: LoDo bar patrons rushed inside and locked in after shooting FOX31 confirmed through FlightAware that Frontier flight 560 returned to the Denver airport shortly after departure on Tuesday evening.The pilot can be heard reporting an odor in the cockpit, according to air traffic control recordings on LiveATC.net.
