NASA’s first asteroid samples fetched from deep space parachuted into the Utah desert Sunday to cap a seven-year journey. In a flyby of Earth, the Osiris-Rex spacecraft released the sample capsule from 63,000 miles out. The small capsule landed four hours later on a remote expanse of military land, as the mothership set off after another asteroid.“We have touchdown!” Mission Recovery Operations announced, immediately repeating the news since the landing occurred three minutes early. Officials later said the orange striped parachute opened four times higher than anticipated — around 20,000 feet — basing it on the deceleration rate.To everyone’s relief, the capsule was intact and not breached, keeping its 4.5 billion-year-old samples free of contamination. Within two hours of touchdown, the capsule was inside a temporary clean room at the Defense Department’s Utah Test and Training Range, hoisted there by helicopter.“It’s like ‘Wow!'̶...Patriots get right with 15-10 win over Jets in strong defensive performance

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — God bless Zach Wilson. The Patriots can partially thank the Jets quarterback for a get-right game Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. With a 15-10 Week 3 win over the Jets, the Patriots improved their record to 1-2.The Patriots essentially closed the game out with Wilson taking a safety when outside linebacker Matthew Judon sacked him in the end zone with 2:27 left in the fourth quarter. The play was emblematic of Wilson’s performance all game. But like the drenching conditions in New Jersey, it wasn’t always pretty for the Pats. Quarterback Mac Jones’ longest play of the game came on a deep pass to uncovered third tight end Pharaoh Brown.Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | Patriots inactives: One rookie WR out of doghouse, another a healthy scratch New England Patriots | Patriots’ defense gets bad news ahead of Week 3 game vs. Jets New England Patriots | NFL notes: What happened to all of the Patriots&...3-year-old boy ejected in I-8 crash; driver arrested on suspicion of DUI

Canadian autoworkers ratified a new labor agreement with Ford Motor Co. on Sunday, averting a threatened strike and potentially setting a precedent that could play out in the United Auto Workers’ strike at automaker facilities in the U.S.The new agreement raises base hourly pay for production workers by almost 20% over three years, and by more than 25% for trade workers, the Canadian autoworker union Unifor said. It also gives permanent workers a $10,000 bonus and adds a cost-of-living adjustment, a mechanism that adjusts wages in line with inflation.Ford described the pact as a 15% wage increase over the three year life of the agreement. But, according to the union, that figure doesn’t include compounding of each annual increase or the initial cost-of-living increase, both of which should increase workers’ actual pay.Ford did not immediately respond to a request for clarification. It’s been one week since the United Auto Workers launched historic work stoppag...Security alert: It’s time to update your iPhone — again

Credit the Vikings for getting the big stop when they needed it on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium. After getting pulverized by star quarterback Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers all day long, the defense stepped up and forced a turnover on downs in the final minutes of the game. That group did its job when it needed to.That gave quarterback Kirk Cousins and the offense the ball with a chance to win the game. They couldn’t do it.After converting for a crucial first down in the final seconds, Cousins tried to fit a ball into tight end T.J. Hockenson in the Chargers’ end zone. It got tipped into the air, and of course, intercepted as the Vikings suffered a heartbreaking 28-24 loss to the Chargers. They are now 0-3, with each of those losses coming in games decided by a single possession. On their opening drive of the game, the Vikings pounded the rock with Mattison five straight times, committing to the run game like they promised they would.
