ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- With an uptick of New Yorkers leaving the state, businesses are also leaving, according to a report by Bloomberg. Many of them are heading to Florida or Tennessee. PORTER CORNERS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - For more than a decade, Robin Schumacher has been the artist behind painting the jockey statues at the Saratoga Race Course. She’s also the person behind keeping a special Travers tradition alive each year. Discovering Saratoga: Meet the Saratoga Jockey Painter To honor the 50th anniversary of “Big Red” winning the Triple Crown, the artist has been painting quite a few jockeys in the blue and white checkered racing silks. This year she is donating a Secretariat jockey statue to Life Path’s "Meals on Wheels" program. It will be auctioned off on Friday night and it includes a plaque for the base that Ron Turcotte signed. LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - This week, Warren County gathered together data from the 2020 United States census, to see what could be gleaned about the southern Adirondack region. The result: The county is getting older. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Census data shared by the county shows a median age of 47.5 among county residents, ranking the county in as the fourth-oldest in the state by median age. It's actually a tie - Essex County came out with the exact same number. Hamilton, Columbia, and Delaware counties are all ranked higher. For Warren County, that median age breaks down into a population consisting of 59% residents between the ages of 18 and 64, down from 62% in 2010. Similarly, the number of residents under 18 is 18%, down from 21%. AMARILLO, Texas – Terry Funk, a wrestling icon whose legendary career of spectacle and violence spanned five decades, has died. The brawling Texan, affectionately known as "The Funker" to friends and fans, was 79.Funk was born on June 30, 1944, in Hammond, Indiana. His family soon relocated to Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle. His father, Dory Funk Sr., began a pro wrestling career after serving in the Navy during World War II. In time, Dory Sr. joined the management team of a regional wrestling promotion, Western States Sports. He became full owner of the "Amarillo territory" in 1967, pushing his sons, Dory Jr. and Terry, among the top wrestlers in the company. When Dory Sr. died in 1973, his sons took the reins.Terry's in-ring debut came on Dec. 9, 1965, in Amarillo, against Sputnik Monroe. ALTON, Ill. -- The Alton city council will hear a proposal Wednesday night about giving the Clark Bridge a facelift. The plan is to install LED lighting along the bridge.The project costs nearly a million dollars and will create an artistic night skyline. ST. LOUIS – A man pled guilty to second degree murder for a killing in a Taco Bell parking lot near Downtown St. Louis. Jamar Burns, 32, will be serving up to 15 years for the death of Darrion Powell.Surveillance video captured the shooting at the Taco Bell on Chouteau Avenue on May 21, 2020. Burns shot Powell and told someone else to take marijuana from him. St. Louis police won’t respond in person to car break-ins A plea deal reduced the murder charges from the first to the second degree. Three other counts were dismissed as a part of the agreement. Burns will have to serve 85 percent of his 15-year sentence. He will get credit for more than three years of jail time served.Burns apologized to Powell’s family in court Wednesday. ST. LOUIS - A man is behind bars in connection with a woman's stabbing death earlier this week in the West End neighborhood. Prosecutors have charged Booker Boyd, 52, with one count of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the investigation. He is jailed in St. Louis City without bond. St. Louis police won’t respond in person to car break-ins The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports the stabbing happened around 3 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Goodfellow Boulevard. When police responded to a call for assistance, they found a 33-year-old woman unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced deceased. Boyd was taken into custody a short distance away from the scene of the stabbing.
