POPULAR NOW: Missing Austin dog reunited with family nearly 1 year later "I grew up in Austin, Texas, so I was always very far away from the coast. But I would read these children's picture books when I was little, and the stunning illustrations and all of that would really teach me to love the ocean and see it as almost like a magical place," she said. "So when I was finally able to go to the beach for the first time, it's been my passion ever since."An artist since childhood, the specific idea for a children's book first came when the title randomly popped into her head. Kiszla vs. Saunders: Do Rockies have five players worth keeping for rebuild?

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 18:26:30 GMT

Kiz: The Rockies are just another word for nothing left to lose. Can’t anybody around here play this game? These guys are a real threat to be the first team in franchise history to lose 100 times in a season. Colorado seems doomed to be stuck in the dark and dreary basement of the National League West this year, and it’s hard to imagine how 2024 will be much brighter. So let me ask: In the long-term rebuild of the Rockies, are there five players on the current major-league roster worth keeping?Saunders: Geez, Kiz, happy springtime to you, too. Unfortunately, you’re right about the ’23 Rox. The only thing gloomier is the weather here in Cleveland. Five players? I can dig up five, although it’s not easy: Kyle Freeland, German Marquez, Ezequiel Tovar, Justin Lawrence and Kris Bryant. That doesn’t mean the Rockies shouldn’t consider trading anybody and everybody, but those five could be part of a rebuild. (Are we allowed to use that word?)Kiz: I...

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred says he feels “sorry for the fans in Oakland” about the Athletics’ plans to relocate to Las Vegas but denies claims by Oakland’s mayor that the franchise used negotiations with the city as leverage. Manfred discussed the plans Monday during a meeting with the Associated Press Sports Editors, adding that he believes the last-place A's can field a more competitive team in Nevada. The franchise announced last week it has signed a binding agreement to purchase land for a new retractable roof ballpark close to the Las Vegas Strip after being unable to construct a new venue in the Bay Area. The A's had been trying to escape the run-down Oakland Coliseum for years, exploring options in Fremont and San Jose before shifting focus to Oakland's waterfront. After the A's announced the land purchase, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao said in a statement that she was disappointed the A’s didn’t negotiate with the city as a “true partner.” A’s announce land deal as part o...
