FBI: Online child sex predators are 'group grooming'

(KRON) -- The FBI San Francisco Field Office has identified a new trend in which sexual predators are using "group grooming" tactics to target and groom children for sexual exploitation. "Throughout our investigations, the FBI has uncovered evidence that online predators have banded together in groups in an attempt to victimize children," said Special Agent in Charge Robert K. Tripp. FBI San Francisco identified instances where online predators worked together to find potential victims, expose children to explicit content, and assess their openness to sexual exploitation. In some instances, groups of predators posed as children to join gaming clans, chats, and social media aimed toward children. Predators also "use each other to condone and normalize the exchange of sexually explicit materials within the group. (KRON) -- A pair of traffic stops earlier this week led to two arrests and the seizure of a variety of drugs and an unregistered "ghost gun," according to the Livermore Police Department.Livermore PD pulled a vehicle over for several vehicle violations. The driver, 51-year-old Rene Reyes from Hayward, didn't have a driver's license, according to Livermore PD. He also had several prior arrests on firearms charges. Woman, 63, dies after being pushed by unknown person in SF Officers found 1.58 grams of methamphetamine on Reyes. Inside the vehicle, they found 3.1 more grams of meth along with a loaded, unregistered handgun. Reyes was arrested on gun and drug charges.One day prior, Livermore PD was patrolling a parking lot on Vasco Road. The patrolling officer spotted a vehicle he recognized as belonging to a man on felony probation. DENVER (KDVR) — One officer in Lakewood fired a shot at suspects who were allegedly throwing fireworks at homeless encampments on Colfax.The Lakewood Police Department tweeted about a large police presence in the area of Colfax and Teller just after 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The area is in the Edgewood neighborhood just west of Sloan's Lake Park.FOX31's Jim Hooley is on the scene and spoke with LPD who said at least two suspects were driving down Colfax and throwing lit fireworks at homeless encampments.
