Silverton photographer Wesley Berg was out on a mission to capture photos of moose this week when he came across a smaller and more elusive creature: A lynx.On Tuesday, the retired research scientist and professional wildlife photographer was skiing up a mountain near his hometown, camera in tow, when he spotted the lynx about 100 yards away laying in the snow.Berg slowly approached the animal from the opposite side of a creek until he was about 100 feet away – close enough to capture photos and video with an 800-millimeter lens, offering outdoor enthusiasts a rare up-close look at one of the state’s most mystifying big cats.“I took some photos and sat down and hung out for well over an hour. And it was just laying there, nodding off,” Berg told The Denver Post. “Then the sun came up and hit it and at some point, I think it got hot, because it got up, stretched, looked around, and got back into the shade and laid down. A little while later, it got up and wandered off.”Related Articl...Barbara Bridges leaves a lasting legacy at Denver’s Women + Film festival

Barbara Bridges is in no hurry to figure out what comes next, but there’s sure to be more.“I don’t know the answer to that at the moment,” said the arts champion, philanthropist and Denver Film’s Women + Film banner founder a couple of weeks after her retirement party in late March. “So, my answer is always cleaning out closets and traveling. Those are the only two things that I know about right now. And then we’ll just see.”When the Women + Film Festival opened its 14th installment Thursday night at Denver Film’s Sie FilmCenter with the lively and smart documentary “Judy Blume Forever,” Bridge’s absence after nearly 20 years of often visionary leadership was felt — but so was her legacy. Bridges grew in her role as a film champion in tandem with her partnership with the arts organization Denver Film.As a board member, she sponsored panels within The Women + Film Voices Film Festival and then — with the help of Tammy Brislin and guidance of Brit Withey, the o...Majority of Disneyland's Magic Key annual passes have sold out

By Steve Contorno | CNNFloridians woke up Friday morning to discover Gov. Ron DeSantis had signed into law a six-week abortion ban overnight, meeting behind closed doors with a select group of invited guests to give final approval to a bill that had just passed the state legislature earlier in the day.In backing a six-week ban, DeSantis fulfilled a campaign pledge to block abortion after the detection of a heartbeat — just before he is expected to launch his 2024 presidential bid. But as he inches toward a national campaign, DeSantis, who rarely sidesteps cultural clashes, has also become oddly muted on abortion since the fall of Roe v. Wade and has avoided laying out a federal platform before jumping into the race.Speaking Friday morning to an overwhelmingly pro-life audience at Liberty University, a deeply conservative Baptist college in Virginia, DeSantis didn’t mention the bill he had signed the night before. The late-night private signing also stood in stark contrast...San Francisco opens long-term homeless shelter on Treasure Island
