SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Pressure is mounting for San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins to release video of the shooting death of an unarmed alleged shoplifter by a Walgreens security guard. Police in Maryland got a heads up from a person who said that her Montgomery County address would soon be familiar to them.It came from Erin Reed who is in a relationship with politician Zooey Zephyr, Montana’s first transgender lawmaker. Virginia’s second-largest school system has approved a plan to install weapon detection screeners in all middle and high schools by the fall.The Prince William County School Board unanimously voted to approve the plan Wednesday. The county plans to use the equipment over the next four years, which it anticipates will cost about $10.7 million.In the coming months, the school system will work on training for staff, and create policies for the use of the weapons detection system to screen students.“The safety of everyone in our schools is the Board’s highest priority. ATLANTA (AP) — Police have apprehended a man who allegedly opened fire inside the waiting room of an Atlanta medical practice, killing one woman and wounding four others Wednesday.Authorities had swarmed the city’s bustling midtown neighborhood shortly after noon in search of the suspect, who fled after the shooting. Police said in a statement that the gunman, who they identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, was captured Wednesday evening in Cobb County, just northwest of Atlanta.Authorities said Patterson shot five women on the 11th floor of a Northside Medical building. FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KDVR) -- Jason Haferman may no longer be a Fort Collins police officer but the fallout from his forced resignation continues. Five lawsuits were filed in Larimer County District Court on Wednesday.
