When Bruce Brown lowers his shoulder, not many defenders have the bulk to stop him. That’s especially true in transition, where Brown rumbled for five of his six made baskets against the Lakers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. When Brown picked his head up and saw Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell staring back at him, he took it as an invitation to engage.“I mean we got out in transition, we attacked them, we took D-lo out the game,” Brown said Wednesday after the Nuggets’ film session in the wake of their Game 1 victory. “That was our goal to get him involved in everything.”The Lakers’ starting shooting guard finished 4 for 11 from the field in 26 minutes. In the fourth quarter, when the Lakers hacked a 21-point deficit to just three, he didn’t play at all. As best as I can tell, this isn't the latest example of wokeness run amok. Nevertheless, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, a really big wiener on wheels, is getting a new name. The eye-catching vehicle is now the Frankmobile. As in, you know, frankfurters.Oscar Mayer, owned by condiment king Kraft Heinz, says this completely needless change "pays homage to the brand’s 100% beef franks.""The Wienermobile is a beloved American icon that has been sparking smiles and driving craveability for our iconic delicious wieners for nearly 100 years," Stephanie Vance, Oscar Mayer's associate brand manager, said in a statement. That may be true, but considering the Wienermobile has been on the road since 1936, changing its name at this point is either a corporate cry for help or a publicity stunt.I'm going with the latter -- and admit I'm providing the free marketing Oscar Mayer undoubtedly desires.Along with changing the name of the Wiener Wagon (I just made that up; yours if you want it, Oscar), the ...Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision on Nellis Boulevard [Las Vegas, NV]

ANTIOCH — Red and blue balloons, tied to a tree, rippled in the breeze, while roses and other flowers laid on the ground, along with empty bottles and a religious candle, which sat unlit.Late Wednesday morning, a group of eight men and two women surrounded the makeshift memorial at the tree where three people died in a vehicle crash Monday night. They mostly were silent. Some cried.“We just found out this morning, and we’re trying to process it,” Antioch resident Tommy Jenkins said. “The crazy part is, I live just over the (adjacent) hill, and when I heard all the sirens, I came to see and I heard that there was a young guy involved who I used to coach in football. But I had no idea the other two people were family members. We just found that out.”Jenkins said his brother, Ramell Jenkins, 45, died in the crash. He and other family members identified the woman as Ramell Jenkins’ wife, Misty Green, 46. Queen Elizabeth III’s famous statement, “recollections may vary,” might apply to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive claim that they became prey Tuesday night to a “relentless” and “near catastrophic” pursuit by paparazzi through the streets of New York, with photographers allegedly causing multiple near collisions with other drivers, pedestrians and two NYPD officers. While Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson described a two-hour ordeal that is reminiscent of “The French Connection,” New York City police officials and a taxi driver briefly enlisted to help the couple evade the paparazzi offered a far less dramatic account. A NYPD spokesperson agreed that there were numerous photographers following the couple Tuesday night, which made their “transport challenging.” But the spokesperson, Julian Philips, also said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination safely and there were no reported...Latest news
